What I do
End-to-end platform work across cloud, containers, and CI/CD. I automate everything I can, and leave clear runbooks for what I can’t. I’m happiest when deployment risk trends down and developer velocity trends up.
I’m Mal Marconi, a DevOps Engineer with 5+ years building, shipping, and running systems in both high-velocity startups and established enterprises. I currently serve as a DevOps Lead / Manager, where I design platforms, coach engineers, and keep delivery moving without breaking the guardrails. I like puzzles, I like pressure, and I love turning messy infrastructure into boring, reliable pipelines.

I’ve mentored several engineers from zero experience to hired. As a lead, I focus on crisp interfaces, paved-road tooling, and humane on-call. I believe in pairing, small PRs, and measurable feedback loops.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu 3–4x/week keeps me honest about continuous improvement. I’m married, I like hard problems, and I’m partial to elegant solutions with boring operations.
Clouds, platforms, data, and tooling I use regularly.
I run 1:1 sessions on fundamentals, interviews, and real-world delivery. Several mentees have gone from zero to hired. If you’re switching careers or leveling up into DevOps/Platform, I can help you prioritize the right projects.
Teams that value observability, automation, and continuous improvement; scope that mixes platform engineering with mentoring; and problems where reliability and speed both matter.
