About
I’m Mal Marconi, a DevOps Engineer with 5+ years building, shipping, and running systems in both high-velocity startups and established enterprises. I currently serve as a DevOps Lead / Manager, where I design platforms, coach engineers, and keep delivery moving without breaking the guardrails. I like puzzles, I like pressure, and I love turning messy infrastructure into boring, reliable pipelines.
Leadership & Mentoring
I’ve mentored several engineers from zero experience to hired. As a lead, I focus on crisp interfaces, paved-road tooling, and humane on-call. I believe in pairing, small PRs, and measurable feedback loops.
Outside Work
Brazilian jiu-jitsu 3–4x/week keeps me honest about continuous improvement. I’m married, I like hard problems, and I’m partial to elegant solutions with boring operations.

- Hardened ingress (WAF, App Gateway) and traffic policy; delivered SOC 2 & GDPR controls with auditable evidence trails.
- Kubernetes platforms with Helm-based deployments, secrets management, and GitOps workflows.
- Observability with Prometheus/Grafana/Loki (plus ELK) — SLOs, alerts, and dashboards developers actually use.
- Integrated DAST into pipelines (OWASP ZAP), auto-publishing reports and gating merges on severity thresholds.
